He chanced upon Sandy Mahl during their college days, and the duo got married in 1986. However, they appointed a divorce attorney in 2001 and Sandy walked away with $125 million.
Elon Musk and Justine Musk - Settlement: Undisclosed
The billionaire Tesla boss walked down the aisle with Justine Musk in January 2000, and the college sweethearts remained married for eight years after their courtship in college.
The couple shared five sons together. Elon shares joint custody of their children and he even foots the bill for their nannies' salaries. He sends Justine $20,000 per month post-tax for her regular requirements such as clothing, shoes, and other discretionary items. Justine also got to keep their Bel-Air home.
Justine was also paid an unspecified alimony amount. It was called one of the most expensive divorces of all time and why not, as Elon still has to pay $170,000 monthly in legal fees. Well, thanks to his divorce attorney, Musk was finally able to settle the matter and the duo was able to move on with their lives.
Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett: Settlement - Undisclosed
Kendra Wilkinson has been popular not only for being the girlfriend of late Hugh Hefner’s girlfriend but also for her appearance in The Girls Next door, the television series on E! She was in a romantic partnership with Hefner from 2004 to 2008. She has always been in the news.
However, she hit the headlines this time owing to her divorce from Hank Baskett. Hank is a retired American football star who plied his trade for the Indianapolis Colts, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Minnesota Vikings in the National Football League.
They have come to an agreement and have split joint physical and legal custody of their two kids. Whatever happened between the two was really unfortunate, since a divorce is always emotionally troubling.

As far as the settlement money is concerned, Casey received $30 million.

However, as soon as the news about Harrison going around with a younger woman came to the surface, Mathison decided to hire a divorce lawyer, and the duo eventually went separate ways in 2003. Mathison, who had received a reported $85-110 million in divorce settlements, left for her heavenly abode in 2015, and Ford is now happily together with Calista Flockhart.
David Schwimmer & Zoe Buckman - Settlement: Unknown
F.R.I.E.N.D.S star David Schwimmer did have quite a satisfying career in Hollywood, but it seems like his personal life is not that satisfying at the moment. His six-year-marriage to British photographer Zoe Buckman is on the rocks right now. Last we heard, they have decided to stay apart for a while so that they can determine what they want from life. Of course, they will raise their only five-year-old daughter together, and hopefully, they wouldn't need a child custody lawyer at all. We hope this turns out to be just a short break, and Zoe and David get back together again very soon! Or else they will end up paying thousands to their divorce attorneys. Perhaps a couples counseling will help them.
Michael Douglas & Diandra Luker – Settlement: Reported $45 million
The Hollywood actor has been a renowned figure in the entertainment industry and has laid his hands on a number of accolades and awards such as a Primetime Emmy, more than four Golden Globe awards, at least one Academy Award, the AFI Life Achievement, and the highly-esteemed Cecil B. DeMille Award. He got married to Diandra Luker in 1977, only to split in 2000. Douglas shelled out $45 million from his bank account to award the settlement amount to Diandra. Jane Fonda & Richard Perry - Settlement: Reported $13 - 20 Million
They say third time's the charm, but it's already Jane Fonda's fourth relationship, and she still seems to have no luck finding the right partner. With looks like hers though, does she need one? Sadly, Hollywood star Jane Fonda and music mogul Richard Perry, finally ended their relationship of eight years, with their divorce settlement amounting around $13-$20 million. They parted amicably and have been good friends to each other. Though Jane is already in her seventies, she is still highly impressive and active. However, our body can play tricks on us, hence we hope both the septuagenarians have good health insurances. Thankfully, they were not married and neither did have children, hence, they had avoided all the complex processes that come with divorce and child custody.
Chris Pratt & Anna Faris - Settlement: $0
Despite having a lot of love and respect for each other and an adorable five-year-old son, Chris Pratt and Anna Faris decided to call it quits in August 2017. While getting divorced, however, they have managed to maintain a certain kind of friendship and are still doing a great job with co-parenting their son, Jack. The couple's divorce, while extremely sad, is also a sign of how divorces can be handled without all of the drama and the back and forth, as the two have decided that they will each pay $0 in divorce settlements and will have joint custody. They've also agreed to evenly split the years where they claim their son as a dependent for various tax benefits. This couple is doing divorce the right way!
Tobey Maguire & Jennifer Meyer - Settlement: Unknown
Though most Hollywood couples claim to be friends with their exes, we doubt how many of them truly mean it. Jennifer Meyer is clearly an exception. It is hard to find a couple so amicable even after their divorce. She and Maguire broke up back in 2016 after nine years of marriage. They also have two wonderful children from their marriage. It sometimes makes us hope that they might do a couples counseling and get back together, but that's clearly not happening.
Kevin Costner & Cindy Silva - Settlement: Reported $80 Million
American actor Kevin Costner and theater actress Cindy Silva chanced upon each other at the prestigious California State University in 1975 and the duo eventually walked down the aisle after dating each other for two and a half years. The couple had some trust issues between them, as reports reveal, and thankfully, issues concerning their kids were settled quite amicably. As far as we know, the settlement amount was something around $80 million.
Steven Spielberg & Amy Irving – Settlement: Reported $100 Million
Despite the Hollywood director’s attorney’s best efforts, a California judge refused to acknowledge Spielberg and Irving’s prenuptial agreement which was scribbled on a paper napkin in 1985, the year the couple got hitched. Consequently, the court ordered the Hollywood filmmaker to pay a settlement amount of around $100 million to Amy after the couple decided to file a divorce just four years into their marriage. The issues between the duo were left unresolved and they parted ways in 1989. Irving, later on, blamed Steven of treating her in a way that was totally unacceptable to her which was why they decided to separate in the first place. Really sad!
Neil Diamond & Marcia Murphey – Settlement: Reported $150 Million
Popular singer Neil Diamond took wedding vows with production assistant Marcia Murphey in 1969 and welcomed their two sons, Micah and Jesse, into their family. However, their marital bliss lasted for 25 years as the duo decided to file for a divorce in 1995. According to Forbes, Diamond was instructed to divide his $300 million-worth estate into two and give up one half to Murphy. Neil blamed himself for the separation and he ensured that Marcia received enough to live her life comfortably. Professionally, he had achieved immense success in his musical career and has notched up a $150 million net worth in his bank account.

As per reports, Vanoy filed for a divorce in 2002, but the duo tried to sort things out amicably and stuck to each other till 2016 when they finally decided to split up for good. Their divorce was nothing short of a shock to their friends and we, too, didn’t expect the couple to bust up. Vanoy had received $168 million in settlement money. Since the separation, Michael has continued to be an iconic figure and has always maintained a stunning credit score, whereas Juanita, the ex-model has also built up an impressive net worth.
Robert Johnson & Sheila Crump - Settlement: Reported $400 Million
Throughout 33 years of staying together, Sheila Crump and Robert Johnson garnered a hefty fortune, especially after they launched BET. However, the couple raked in around $3 billion in their banks by selling BET to Viacom. Crump, later on, accused Johnson of having a three-year extramarital affair and filed for a divorce. After a while, Sheila took wedding vows with Judge William T. Newman who is said to have presided over Crump's previous divorce proceedings. As far as our knowledge goes, Johnson had to pay a settlement amount of $400 million to Crump and perhaps shelling out that much money made him decide never to remarry again.
Mel Gibson & Robyn Moore – Settlement: Reported $425 Million
Irreconcilable differences between Gibson and Moore led to their separation and eventually, their divorce in 2009. As per reports, Hollywood filmmaker and actor Gibson was spotted with Oksana Grigorieva, a popular singer and songwriter, a month before the divorce. The Hollywood actor was said to even have a child with Grigorieva. According to the prenuptial agreement between Mel and Robyn, the former had to shell out half of everything he had earned, and as per several reports, the settlement amount was calculated at approximately $425 million. Thankfully, his immense net worth prevented him from facing bankruptcy.
Kendra Wilkinson & Hank Baskett - Settlement: Even split of assets
There were quite a lot of speculations about the marriage and chances of its longevity between Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett, a former NFL player. After those unconfirmed reports, Kendra took to social media (Instagram) on April 7, stating that things have finally ended between them. The couple, who have been married since 2009, have two kids — Hank Baskett IV and Alijah Mary Baskett. Nothing is confirmed yet regarding child custody, but we hope they find the right child custody attorney to handle this messy affair.
Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan Tatum - Settlement: Reported $6 Million + Joint Custody
Jenna Dewan Tatum and Channing Tatum showed the world how they had ‘lovingly chosen to separate’ since things remained pretty much the same about the love they shared. On April 2, a post on Instagram stated the end of their marriage (not the divorce attorneys though!). The duo had initially met on the sets of Step Up in 2006, and three years later, tied the nuptial knot. Page Six later reported that Tatum and Jenna's work schedules were the reason their marriage didn't work. With a reported settlement of $6 million and joint custody over their daughter Everly, Channing and Jenna's divorce was as smooth as it could be.
Usher & Grace Miguel - Settlement: Unknown
Staying in a relationship for 10 years and two years of marriage could do little in preventing Grace Miguel and Usher Raymond to stay with each other. Going by Us Weekly, the duo gave serious thought and consideration to separate, and it was a mutual decision. They had tied the knot in 2015, but before that, they began dating in 2009 after Usher got separated from Tameka Foster. Internet sleuths have suggested that three people filed lawsuits against Usher for giving them herpes, an STD, and that is the main reason why they couldn't stick together as a couple (marriage counseling might have helped!). No report has yet come to the open about them hiring divorce lawyers.
Eve Mavrakis & Ewan McGregor - Settlement: Unknown
Ewan McGregor, who is ranked 36th among the top movie actors of all time by Empire magazine, split up with his French-Greek-Jewish wife Eva Mavrakis, after twenty-two years of staying together. McGregor was spotted behaving romantically with Mary Elizabeth Winstead, his Fargo co-star, and things turned bitter following that, with the couple making a few trips to the offices of their respective divorce attorneys. People magazine later reported that the couple split up in May 2017. Sometimes, marriage counseling does not work, especially if one or both of the partners are unfaithful.
Naomi Watts & Liev Schreiber - Settlement: Unknown
Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber ended their 11-year-old marriage last year. Obviously, Schreiber is still trying to get used to this new phase in his life. The ex-couple has, of course, decided to take care of their children together. Sometimes, there are no good reasons for divorce, and people just outgrow each other. The same must have happened for them. It is great to see that they are not fighting over child custody and co-parenting their children in a healthy environment.
Alessandra Ambrosio & Jamie Mazur - Settlement Amount: Unknown
Having been engaged for a decade, Jamie Mazur and supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio chose to walk away from each other in March 2018. The pair was engaged in 2008, but the marriage didn’t occur in all these years. The separation was kept hush-hush for the most part, though most did speculate about their rocky relationship since they've been seen less together. Maybe they could have pulled through had they tried for couples’ counseling? But anyway, no marriage means at least they were spared the trouble (and the exorbitant fees!) of trying to find a divorce attorney.
Chrissy Metz & Martyn Eaden - Settlement: Unknown
On March 30 in The Wendy Williams Show, Chrissy Metz declared that she and Martyn Eaden, her cameraman husband had ended their relationship with the help of an attorney for divorce. The settlement amount was estimated to be around $25 million.
Billy Bush and Sydney Davis - Settlement: Reported $2 - 3 Million
Today show co-host Billy Bush and Sydney Davis were married for 20 long years. After two decades of marriage and three beautiful children, the couple had decided to break up and spend some time alone to see how things went — their divorce attorneys confirmed the news. It must have been hard for their children, Josie, Mary, and Lillie, who are 19, 16, and 12, respectively. One source claimed that the couple fought over the scandal that cost Billy his job, too. Apparently, a 2005 interview with Donald Trump surfaced where Trump was heard saying highly degrading things about women. In just about three months time, another piece of juicy gossip surfaced, stating that the couple was trying hard to fix their marriage. Whether the couples counseling worked for them or not, or if it was some other reason, we do not know, but we hear the couple is staying together again and trying to fix it. Well, that is good news!
Miranda Lambert & Blake Shelton – Settlement: Reported Undisclosed
The country music songwriter and singer has proven her mettle and has carved a niche for herself in the music industry. Rachel Bilson & Hayden Christensen - Settlement: Unknown
Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen met at the sets of Jumper in 2007. After 10 years of being together, the couple decided to split in 2017. Sources say that they had tons of issues, and none of them were ever getting resolved — they were two very different people with different interests. Even before this, they had called off their engagement once in 2010; however, they reconciled again later. They also welcomed their daughter, Briar Rose Christensen, in 2014. Just when things were looking up, apparently the couple announced their break up, yet they do have a cordial relationship even after the split. Nobody is sure if the two were actually married secretly. We hope not because then Rachel would have to make a beeline for her family law attorney and child custody lawyer.
Justin Theroux & Jennifer Aniston - Settlement: Reported $110 Million Even Split
Justin Theroux, who appeared in HBO drama series The Leftovers and acted in many other TV shows and movies throughout his career, started dating actress Jennifer Aniston in 2011, and they even worked together in the 2012 comedy film Wanderlust before walking down the aisle in 2015. However, only three years later, Aniston had to take recourse to her family law attorney as she and Justin had already decided to split as a couple, but they are still good friends. Aniston’s publicist later said that the couple took the decision based on mutual understanding, even having an even split of $110 million for their divorce settlement. Since they have no kids, they didn’t need the service of a child custody attorney.
Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt - Settlement: Price Unknown, Joint Custody
While the settlement amount for the divorce of two of the biggest stars in Hollywood is unknown, we do know that Pitt gave Jolie $8 million to assist her in purchasing a new home for herself and their children. One of the most popular couples once, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt became so huge that they were branded as Brangelina — they were the apple of the media's eyes. However, Hollywood seems to be the place where all good marriages almost always come to an end. After having three kids and adopting three more, their marriage came to an end. It was definitely hard for the kids, and we are sure they were hoping their parents would reconcile after sessions of marriage counseling, but that didn't happen. Unfortunately, the couple is still fighting over child custody. It has been 20 months now, and we do wonder what the child custody lawyer has been doing! Hope everything works out well for the ex-couple and their children!
Mariah Carey & James Packer - Settlement: Reported $5 - 10 Million
Mariah Carey and James Packer had the ugliest public break-up, to say the least. But Mariah, the clever woman that she is, went on to fight against him in court. Her law attorney definitely did a great job as the casino mogul ended up paying millions to Carey, with an estimated divorce settlement of $5-$10 million. We hope she puts them to good use and spends a bit on her life insurance fund. Packer admitted that he did a mistake as he was going through a rough patch at that time when they started dating. He went through a huge financial crisis before and after the break-up. It actually makes us feel bad to think of all the money he had to pay just for break-up alone — imagine how much he would have paid if it had been a divorce!
Lionel Richie & Diane Richie – Settlement: Reported $20 million
The popular singer and songwriter’s style of ballads with the funk/soul band Commodores earned him immense success as a balladeer in the 80s. Throughout his musical career, Richie has had the distinction of selling more than 90 million records across the globe. In spite of having been in a relationship with his now former wife, Brendan Harvey, he had started dating Diane Alexander. He was honored with an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 by none other than Hollywood icon, Sylvester Stallone. He walked down the aisle with Linda Claridge in 1983, and the couple shares a daughter and a son. Everyone thought that the duo would stick to each other forever, but after 26 years of being married, Hogan and Linda decided to part ways and hired a divorce lawyer. We heard that Linda walked away with a number of luxury cars, real estate properties, and even off-road vehicles, all of which amounted to $30 million.

He gained worldwide acclamation as a singer and drummer of Genesis, a popular rock band, and his singles such as "In the Air Tonight", "One More Night", and "Another Day in Paradise" caught the fancy of people worldwide. He married thrice and had to hire a divorce attorney in all of them. His marriage with Orianne Cevey, his third wife, lasted for not more than 6 years and the duo went separate ways in 2008, with Collins paying a settlement amount of $47 million. Surprisingly, the couple got back together again 6 years later.
Paul McCartney & Heather Mills McCartney – Settlement: Reported $48.6 million
The former Beatles man is known all over the world as a successful multi-instrumentalist, composer, songwriter, and singer. The songwriting partnership he shared with another Beatles legend, John Lennon, remains iconic to this day. He notched up quite a hefty net worth in his bank account throughout his musical career, out of which Paul had to shell out $48.6 million as settlement amount to his second wife, Heather Mills when the couple filed for divorce in 2008. We heard that it was around one-fifth of the total amount that Heather demanded. Too bad that their marriage never worked out!
James Cameron & Linda Cameron – Settlement: Reported $25 million
The Canadian filmmaker established himself in Hollywood with the 1984 film, Terminator. Banking on his directorial skills, he garnered critical acclamation with films such as Terminator 2: Judgment Day, True Lies, and Titanic. After his massive Oscar win in 1998, Cameron’s personal life went downhill and his marriage to Linda Cameron ended in a divorce a year later. The marriage lasted for less than two years and therefore, the settlement amount was decided to be something around $25 million. We wish the duo would have stayed forever and really feel sad for them.
Kenny Rogers & Marianne Rogers – Settlement: Reported $60 million
The Country Music Hall of Fame member attained sky-high success as a songwriter, singer, entrepreneur, and record producer. Water & Bridges, his 2006 album, received amazing reviews and entered the fifth position in the sales charts of Billboard Country Albums. During his ‘Hee Haw’ days, Kenny crossed paths with Marianne, fell in love, and decided to walk down the aisle together. However, after sticking to each other for 16 years, the duo decided to opt for a divorce in 1993. Marianne received a settlement amount of $60 million, and that amount is enough to keep anyone going for the rest of their life.
Arnold Schwarzenegger & Maria Shriver – Settlement: Reported $250 million
Be it the fitness or the entertainment industry, Arnold Schwarzenegger needs no introduction. His work in films such as The Terminator franchise, Total Recall, Commando, True Lies, and Predator received appreciation and acclamation from all quarters. Arnold and Maria, the former Ms. Universe, had a blissful married life and people thought that nothing on earth could separate the two. However, their marriage hit rock-bottom in 2011 when Shriver accused her husband of cheating on her. Though the divorce hasn’t been sorted out yet, her lawyer suggests that Maria will be entitled to receive an amount of $250 million.
Marc Anthony & Shannon De Lima - Settlement: $10k/Month over 3 years
Shannon De Lima is a hot Venezuelan model who was married to singer Marc Anthony for two years. They have known each other for seven years before things got rocky, and the couple decided to end it. Shannon has clarified over and over again that Jennifer Lopez's kiss with Marc Anthony was not the reason behind their divorce, though many seem to think so. She still cares for his children, and they are one big, happy family.
Kate Beckinsale & Len Wiseman - Settlement: Unknown
Kate and Len met back in 2003 when they were shooting Underworld. Their divorce was settled in 2017 after 12 years of marriage. Thankfully, there was no cheating or scandal involved here. It was merely because of their busy schedules which had forced them to grow apart — a common reason for break-ups in Hollywood. They had a great 12 years of being together, and it is indeed great to see that none of them had asked for spousal support. At least that's a relief; otherwise, the fees of their divorce attorneys along with alimony would have emptied their bank accounts.
Jeff Bezos & Mackenzie Bezos - Settlement: Reported $68 Billion
Breakups are undoubtedly heartbreaking, and when you and your spouse split after years of marriage, it definitely tears you apart. However, Jeff Bezos, Amazon's CEO, ended his marriage to Mackenzie Bezos after 25 years of staying together. With an estimated net worth of $137 billion in his bank account, Bezos was able to settle the matter by paying off an estimated $68 billion. Though we don’t know whether any prenuptial agreement was signed or not, the reports revealed that Bezos had to split up his marital assets as well once the divorce was finalized. But we guess that hardly made any difference to one of the world’s richest men.
Madonna & Guy Ritchie - Settlement: Reported $76 Million - $92 Million
Madonna has always been hailed as the “Queen of Pop” since the 80s and rightfully so. She entered into a marital alliance with popular English entrepreneur and filmmaker, Guy Ritchie in 2000, but the marriage didn’t turn fruitful as the couple filed for divorce just eight years later. Both of them agreed that the spark which initially kept their relationship alive had gone out, and they had no choice but to part ways. As per Madonna’s publicist, the divorce settlement amount ranged from $76 million to $92 million.
Ben Stiller & Christine Taylor - Settlement: Reported $200 Million
Veteran Hollywood actor Ben Stiller and wife Christine Taylor announced that they were separating from each other after 17 years of marriage. It came as a shock to their fans as well as colleagues as most of them thought the couple would have a long-lasting marriage, but as it appears they did have their conflicts. Ben has been super busy doing movies. Though Christine is a fine actress, too, and had appeared alongside her husband in movies like Zoolander, Arrested Development, and Tropic Thunder in recent years, she was busy raising their children. They have two beautiful children, Ella Olivia and Quinlin. Though the couple still respects each other, their priorities have changed which slowly caused them to drift apart. While the real reasons are unknown, we can easily take a guess that their work life, along with Ben's recent admission that he had survived cancer, must have taken a toll on their relationship. Though their family has been broken, we hope the kids have good insurance policies from their parents. It is sad to know that soon they will be summoning their lawyers to make things official, and as per reports, the couple's settlement is at $200 million.
Wissam Al Mana & Janet Jackson - Settlement: Reported Around $100 - 200 Million
Janet Jackson's fairytale marriage to billionaire Wissam Al Mana didn't last long as the couple called married in 2012 and filed for divorce five years later in 2017. While divorce can often be a sad thing, we're sure Jackson isn't in her feels too much as in the prenup it was stated that if the two stayed married for at least five years and then decided on divorce, she would be entitled to $100 million. Supposedly, it also states that the prenup calls for the $100 million payment to be doubled if they have a child together - which they do, Eissa! After the split, Al Mana went on to say good things about Jackson. Considering how high-profile this ex-couple is, we wonder how much they paid for the fees of their respective divorce lawyers.
Jessica Andrea and Logic - Settlement: Reported Cash Payout
Early 2018 saw the divorce of Logic and his wife of two years, Jessica Andrea. Strange as it may sound, Andrea actually unfollowed her "1-800-273-8255" rapper husband on Instagram before calling it quits from her own account in March. So, nothing much can be said about the exact time of the break. However, divorce papers prepared by their family law attorney are said to have been filed with bleak chances of reconciliation, as per TMZ.
Scott Phillips & Julie Bowen - Settlement: Reported $25 Million
Actress Julie Bowen, who played the character of Claire in the ABC show, Modern Family, filed for divorce from her husband, Scott Phillips, in February 2018. We wonder what would happen to their family life insurance plans.
Olivia Wilde & Tao Ruspoli - Settlement: Unknown
Olivia Wilde’s marriage to Italian royalty and filmmaker Tao Ruspoli did not have a fairy tale ending. Wilde filed papers at a Los Angeles Superior Court citing irreconcilable differences after 8 years of marriage. The star and Tao eloped in 2003 when the actress was only 19, and mutually agreed to separate after long years together and right after renewing a new house. Nowadays, she is together with actor David Sudeikis and has one kid with him.
Rupert Murdoch & Wendy Dang - Settlement: Est. $60 Million
Rupert and Wendy's marriage shows us why it's so important to have a proper attorney to help out with the prenup agreement and everything that follows after a divorce. These two seemed to be living together happily for the longest time, but that simply wasn't what was happening behind the scenes as the world would come to find out pretty soon. It was apparent that there was no love left in this marriage as Rupert remarried just 17 days after he got a divorce from his previous marriage. They stayed together for 14 years, but it doesn't look like there was much between these two and they ended up falling apart all the same.
Demi Moore & Bruce Willis - Settlement: Reported $90 Million
There's nothing as sad as a slow burnout to a marriage, and that's exactly what happened in Demi Moore and Bruce Willis' case. This former power couple held a lot of influence over Hollywood and have millions of fans, and anyone could have been forgiven for thinking that with their amazing bank accounts and successful lives, everything should have been perfect in their relationship and lives. That wasn't the case, however, and it was clear that living together would be difficult for them due to them not being able to spend enough time together, even though they had three daughters together. They filed for a divorce in 2000 and thankfully, ended their marriage on good terms.
Johnny Depp & Amber Heard - Settlement: Reported $7 Million
Among all the divorce cases that we keep hearing from the celebrity world, the one between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard was one of the most difficult to stomach. No one could have imagined that things weren’t going well between these two, but things went from bad to worse between them in a matter of years and they seemed to have no choice but to split up eventually. Amber even donated all of the money that she got from the large $7 million settlement to various charity foundations. The settlement became complicated when both of them accused each other of domestic abuse, although they both signed a non-disclosure agreement and decided to move on with their lives. One downside of this was that Amber lost job opportunities.
Kim Basinger & Alec Baldwin - Settlement: Reported $3 Million
Kim and Alec did not have an easy time with their settlement whatsoever. While a lot of settlements turn out to be relatively civil, their case wasn't that way. The settlement also lasted an extremely long time of four years because they each wanted custody of their daughter. Things turned pretty bitter during the process and they both went so far as to hurl insults at one another. $3 million isn’t as much as some other settlements that we’ve seen among celebrities, but it’s enough to cause a huge rift - and that’s exactly what we saw. However, they’re both apparently on better terms these days, and their bank accounts are faring well too.
Denise Richards & Charlie Sheen - Settlement: Reported $25 Million
Denise and Charlie really should have thought things through when they decided to get married because they really don't seem like they're cut out for each other. They seem to have had many differences, and they both had insults to exchange during the entire process. Denise stated that Charlie was guilty of infidelity as well as other things like not allowing their children to be vaccinated. While they both have more money than most people in the country and could easily support whatever lifestyle they choose, they still acted like the settlement would lead them to bankruptcy and behaved poorly during the entire process - although $25 million is a huge enough amount to start some bickering.
Prince Charles & Princess Diana - Settlement: Reported $22.5 Million
This royal wedding seemed doomed far before the actual divorce took place to separate the husband and wife. Princess Diana was extremely popular with the public, and it would have seemed like her life as a member of the royal family was absolutely perfect, but this wasn't exactly true as she was undergoing plenty of marital issues with her husband. As a princess should deserve, her settlement in the divorce was a startling $22.5 million, which was worth far more back in the days when this took place. Although the tried to make the marriage work, it was pretty clear in 1995 that it couldn’t be held in place, and the divorce became official a year later.
Alec & Jocelyn Wildenstein - Settlement: Reported $2.5 Billion
In one of the most bizarre settlements in history, Jocelyn received a whopping $2.5 billion dollars! Her story is relatively tragic, however, since it was born out of her intention of getting her husband to notice her more. She got plastic surgery which made her look pretty different from what she used to, and this turned out to be a pretty bad decision as her husband, Alec, was horrified and reportedly screamed when he set his eyes on her. Jocelyn said that she needed $1 million a month because she didn’t know how to run her house without servants since her husband was a billionaire. However, even with all that money, she ended up broke.
Kelsey & Camille Grammer - Settlement: Reported $30 Million
According to Kelsey, his marriage to Camille wasn't meant to last in the first place as Camille had divorce on her mind since the first day that she got married to him. In his words, the only reason that Camille wanted to marry him at all was due to his success in the show Frasier, and that she had no interest in him as a person. This is quite the sad thing to hear about marriage, but the divorce attorney probably had a field day with this $30 million settlement. There are plenty of ways to become super rich, and one of them happens to be getting divorced from someone like the star of Frasier.
Phil Collins & Jill Tavelman - Settlement: Reported $34 Million
Phil Collins is a widely known singer and songwriter, and his work is appreciated all over the globe. However, his career success couldn't translate to a happy marriage over the years, and he had to pay his wife, Jill Tavelman, a whopping $34 million in settlement money. Phil has been married and divorced thrice, and he isn't exactly proud of those numbers. However, he's now back with an ex-wife of his, Orianne, and seems to be doing much better in life right now. They intend to get remarried, and we're hoping that Phil doesn't give his divorce attorney any more business. He seems to have learned a lot from his past mistakes.
Johnny Carson & Joanna Holland - Settlement: Reported $20 Million
Joanna may have pocketed $20 million when she got a divorce, but this amount means, even more, today due to the depreciation of the currency. However, that's what happens when you go through a divorce with someone like Johnny Carson, who happens to be one of the most popular and successful actors of the last and current century. These two married in secret - a move which must have seemed like the right one to make. They managed to keep their marriage working for another 13 years, but that was the extent of it. While the divorce ended up putting a dent to Johnny's bank account, he seems to have moved on from the whole affair and live quite a pleasant life before his unfortunate passing in 2005.
Giada De Laurentiis & Todd Thompson - Settlement: Reported Est.$5.9 Million
Giada is a pretty well-known chef and has fans all over the world. Her monetary success did nothing for her personal life, however, and her divorce with her husband, Todd, was a pretty costly one. One of the only things that the both of them didn't have to go through was spousal support because they're both relatively well off. However, a lot of their property was split because they had no prenuptial agreement between them. Todd was lucky enough to get the $3.2 million house that they had in Pacific Palisades, which both of them probably wanted. It’s tough to say whether they’ll find true love after this, but this marriage certainly wasn’t it.
Chris Rock & Malaak Compton Rock - Settlement: Reported $48.6 Million
If there's one thing that we can learn from Chris and Malaak's marriage, it's that we should always make sure that our prenup agreement hasn't expired - especially if we're a celebrity couple. These two were married for nearly two decades, but the relationship wasn't meant to last and things didn't turn out so great in the end. Their relations with each other have pretty much died off and they can't stand to be around each other anymore, which is a tragic end to this once happy and full of life marriage. Perhaps the only positive side of this divorce is that they've agreed to share custody of their children, which is something that a lot of divorced couples tend to struggle with.
Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries - Settlement: Reported $10 Million
Kim and Kris did not have a happy ending to their wedding. In fact, the entire affair looked like something that was meant to stir up drama, and nothing else. At least, that's how Kris feels about it, anyway. He said that the marriage was a sham that was designed for entertainment for the Keeping Up With The Kardashians show and that he had been used as a mere pawn so that Kim could gain more publicity. The marriage itself lasted for no more than 72 days, even though the wedding was incredibly costly (reportedly in the millions). Both sides aren’t exactly on the risk of bankruptcy, which is why Kris could turn down the $10 million settlement deal he was offered by Kim.
Chris Martin & Gwyneth Paltrow - Settlement: Reported $7.5 Million
Chris and Gwyneth showed the world how a civil divorce between adults should be. Throughout the process, there was no name calling or insulting, and the entire process took two years to complete because they weren't exactly in a hurry to end their marriage - just being separated was more than enough for them. They were also extremely fair when it came to money matters, and divided everything in half. They also agreed to the shared custody of their children - which is something that many couples spend years fighting over. Everyone, including the divorce attorney, won during this divorce process, and we’re pretty sure that both of them are still on good terms.
Roman & Irina Abramovich - Settlement: Reported $300 Million
It's pretty clear that Irina wasn't in the marriage with Roman for the money. Otherwise, she could have made far more than the $300 million that she already made. Yes, while $300 million dollars is enough to make most bank accounts pale in comparison, Roman was worth around $18.7 billion when this divorce took place. By law, Irina could have asked for half of this amount and she would be entitled to it. However, she settled for the $300 million that she was getting and showed no intentions of going after her ex-husbands billions. Roman was the owner of Chelsea FC and was the 16th richest person on earth back then.
Heidi Klum & Seal - Settlement: Reported $70 Million
Heidi and Seal were among the most favorite and popular couples on earth, and their breakup broke millions of hearts around the world. However, it couldn't be helped because of the situation that Seal had put Heidi in, and she was forced to contact a divorce attorney. According to her, Seal's anger issues were frightening her and her children, and she needed to end the relationship immediately. They had been together for 9 years and even had 4 kids together, but it was not meant to last. While they did have an existing prenup agreement, they decided to settle for half of Heidi’s wealth and ended their relationship which should have lasted for years to come.
Todd Chrisley & Teresa Terry - Settlement: Reported Unknown
You know Todd Chrisley from his hit show, Chrisley Knows Best, but before Julie Chrisley, there was Teresa Terry - Todd's first wife. Todd and Teresa did not have a happy marriage whatsoever. In fact, it's one of the more horrifying ones that we know of. There aren't any reports on how much the settlement was for, but we do know that the marriage ended due to Todd's harsh behavior towards his ex-wife, who claims that Todd subjected her to physical and mental abuse to the point where she was fearful of her own life. We're glad this relationship has ended and that she doesn't have to endure him any longer. Todd tried to sue Teresa for $1 million for child support after the divorce, but he lost the case.
Mike Tyson & Robin Givens - Settlement: Reported $10 Million
It's always good to see a couple that isn't together for the money. By rights, Robin could have asked for far more than the $10 million that she received, but she chose not to, thereby proving that she didn't marry Mike for the money, because if she had, the first thing on her mind would have been more money from the settlement. However, she was content with what she got, and even though her relationship with Mike lasted for just eight months, they ended on a relatively positive note. There are still some rumors that Robin was in the relationship for Mike’s bank account, but we’ll probably never know for sure.
John Cleese & Alyce Faye Eichelberg - Settlement: Reported $32.7 Million
In perhaps one of the rarest cases ever seen, Alyce became richer than her husband due to the money and assets that she received during the divorce settlement. This included all sorts of properties, including residences in New York and London. We can only hope that the proceedings were calm and civil because a case like this could easily have tempers soaring. John handed over approximately $19.7 to his ex-wife in the form of cash. Her marriage lasted 16 years, and she made sure that she got every last penny during the settlement, which may have made her extremely unpopular among the public. While she had a lot of support, many have turned against her following the divorce.
Jennifer Lopez and Cris Judd - Settlement: Reported $14 Million
It was a pretty unlucky day for Jennifer when she met Cris on set at work. What could have been a fulfilling relationship only lasted for nine months and ended in a pretty costly settlement of $14 million dollars. Many have argued that Cris married Jennifer for her money, but there's no way to prove this. What's obvious for all to see is that the two met during a set of Jennifer's own music video for her song Love Don't Cost a Thing, which is extremely ironic to say the very least, since it ended up taking quite the toll on her bank account. Today, Lopez is engaged to New York Yankee legend, Alex Rodriguez, and we are excited to see their relationship flourish.
Lance Armstrong & Kristin Richard - Settlement: Reported $14 Million
It's pretty obvious that losing $14 million isn't even close to the worst thing about this divorce for Lance. He met his wife during a difficult time when he was suffering from testicular cancer - which was back in 1997 - and proceeded to have some really great years with her. He even won the Tour de France multiple times when they were married, and it didn't look like one day they wouldn't be together anymore, especially as Kristin had gone as far as moving to France for her husband. Unfortunately, they couldn't go the distance together and got a divorce in 2003 with Lance admitting that he had never faced a trial of such magnitude before.
Jeff Gordon & Brooke Sealey - Settlement: Reported $15 Million
Jeff and Brooke looked like one of those couples who could have lasted for their whole lives. They ended up marrying just a year after they saw each other for the first time, and appeared to be love-struck during the first few years of their relationship. However, things turned sour towards the eight-year mark of their marriage and they filed for divorce. Jeff happens to be one of the best racecar drivers on earth and has a solid bank account, so he could easily afford the $15 million settlement due to his divorce, although we're certain he'd rather not have paid at all. We’re hoping the two of them can find lifelong partners to settle with after this.
Elin Nordegren & Tiger Woods - Settlement: Reported $100 Million
Elin Nordegren is mostly known for being the ex-wife of Tiger Woods. With a reported $100 million settlement, the couple split back in 2009 and people started wondering where Nordegren is today and what exactly is she doing. So, these days, Nordegren lives a quiet life in Florida where she’s raising her two kids from her union with Woods, Sam and Charlie. After her divorce from Woods due to his unloyalty, Nordegren says: “I have moved on and I am in a good place. My relationship with Tiger is centered around our children and we are doing really good – we really are – and I am so happy that is the case. He is a great father,”. In recent weeks, Nordegren is believed to have completed her master’s degree in psychology, and it seems like things are going well for Elin.
Harold & Sue Ann Hamm — Settlement: Reported $1 Billion
Harold and Sue Ann Hamm's divorce was sure as expensive or even more expensive than their actual wedding. Harold Hamm was a very wealthy man because of his success as an Oklahoma gas and oil executive. The two used to be madly in love with each other but when it came to their divorce papers and divorce mediation, they didn't back off without a fight. Harold initially was going to settle the divorce with writing a check to Sue amounting to $974.8 million, but it appeared like she wasn't satisfied. With the help of her divorce lawyer, she was able to fight for more money and take home a total of $1 billion.
Steve & Elaine Wynn — Settlement: Reported $1 Billion
Steve and Elaine Wynn earned their billion-dollar fortune through being casino bigwigs. We're not sure how their relationship was because they had their fair share of experiences when it came to their breakup. While others part ways after one divorce, this wasn't the case for this couple. They already had their first divorce back in 1986 but decided to get back together. It seems like couples treatment won't really work for them because the two ended up filing for divorce again in 2010. It's not confirmed if there was any infidelity or adultery involved, but Elaine was able to get around $1 billion from the divorce.
Bernie & Slavica Ecclestone — Settlement: Reported $1.2 Billion
Slavica Eccleston is a former model who was married to Bernie Ecclestone. Bernie had a billion-dollar net worth through his success as a Formula One car-racing tycoon. Bernie had billions in his name and his family's name so when he and Slavica filed for a divorce, the settlement amounted to billions, too. Reportedly, Slavica was able to receive a total of $1.2 billion from the whole divorce settlement. Maybe Bernie should have hired a prenup lawyer to fix a prenup before they got married so that he wouldn't have lost over a billion from his account.
Rupert Murdoch & Anna Maria Torv — Settlement: Reported $1.7 Billion
Rupert Murdoch is a media mogul who once had a marriage with Anna Torv. The two seemed like they didn't need any couples therapy because they were able to stay married for a total of 31 years. Sadly, they eventually had a change of heart and later had a divorce attorney fix up a divorce. Anna must have been happy even if their relationship came to an end because she was able to receive a total of $1.7 billion from the settlement. Robert later married Wendi Deng but when it resulted in another divorce, he had no money issues because a prenup lawyer fixed up a prenup before they said their "I dos."
Vladimir Potanin & Natalia Potanina — Settlement: Reported $7 Billion
Probably one of the more pricey divorces on this list is Vladimir Potanin's and Natalia Potanina's. A lot of you might call their divorce a non-affordable divorce because the final settlement amounted to a whopping $7 billion. This was almost half of Vladimir's entire net worth but it was the right sum because Russian law states that a spouse should get an equal half of the other's assets. Vladimir initially offered $140 million to settle the divorce, but Natalia had a very good divorce lawyer so she later became an instant billionaire.
Katie Price & Peter Andre — Settlement: Reported $9.6 Million
A lot of you might remember Katie Price for she was the winner of Celebrity Big Brother. She had a marriage with singer/songwriter Peter Andre, and their relationship actually started when they both appeared on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!. Before even getting married, they both had a fortune in their bank account. When they filed for a divorce in 2009 after four years of marriage, they never needed to argue about money. Peter took home just half of their joint earnings and didn't get a single cent from Katie's earnings from when she was still single. The final settlement amounted to a total of $9.6 million.
Rod Stewart & Rachel — Settlement: Reported $12.3 Million
Rod Stewart was a very lucky guy when he was able to marry model Rachel Hunter. Well, Rachel was a very lucky girl as well since she got married to a rock star. Before they even had their wedding (where Rachel looked stunning in a celebrity wedding gown), they had a prenup lawyer mediate a prenuptial agreement. The agreement stated that Rachel won't be getting a single cent from Rod's net worth if ever they get a divorce. Even if they had a prenup, Rachel was fortunate enough to still be able to receive a total of $12.3 million. This probably saved her financially since her career has been slowing down through the years.
Thierry Henry & Nicole Merry — Settlement: Reported $12.8 Million
Thierry Henry is a professional footballer who made a fortune, thanks to his career as an athlete from which he has made so much money in his bank account. He once was married to Nicole Merry who is known for being a model. The relationship of the couple ended up in a divorce and when the time came that they had to fix their divorce papers, things got pricey regarding the settlement. When the divorce was finalized back in 2008, it is said that Nicole took home around $12.8 million. We're sure this was a big loss to Henry's net worth.
Britney Spears & Kevin Federline — Settlement: Reported $13 Million
Britney Spears has been in the industry for so long already and even until this day, her talent still brings her a lot of earnings. If you would remember, she was married before to dancer Kevin Federline. They also managed to have children together. Before their wedding even happened, a prenup was already fixed by a prenup lawyer and the agreement stated that Federline would get $250K to $500K a year for as long as they stayed married. When they got a divorce, Federline has reportedly received a sum of $13 million.
Tom Cruise & Nicole Kidman — Settlement: Reported $90 Million
Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman are another former Hollywood pair that everybody was following. They had a marriage that almost lasted for ten years. Each of them earned a fortune on their own, so when they had to get a divorce, their divorce lawyers had a lot of accounting to do. They managed to file for a divorce just three days before their 10th wedding anniversary and this was good for Cruise because if ever the divorce was filed past that date, he would have to support her financially for the rest of her life. The exact settlement amount is still a mystery, but some rumors say that she was able to get around $90 million.
Brad Pitt & Jennifer Aniston — Settlement: Reported $60 Million
Before Brad Pitt ever got into a relationship with Angelina Jolie, you might recall that he and Jennifer Aniston were an item. Actually, they were not just an item for they had a marriage, too. They were too in-demand actors who some referred to as Hollywood's fairytale couple. When they wanted a divorce from each other, there was a lot of meetings that happened to decide who got what. After the settlement was finalized, Aniston ended up with $29 million and their Beverly Hills Mansion, while Brad was able to get $31 million and the film production company they founded.
Roseanne Barr & Tom Arnold — Settlement: Reported $50 Million

He and Phyllis were able to have a long-lasting marriage but they shocked everyone after they decided to file for a divorce after 52 years of being together. Ellen seemed like she won the jackpot financially because she was able to take home a total of $20 million. This was all thanks to the settlement plus the money she got after she sold all the jewelry Ron had given her.
Alex Rodriguez & Cynthia Scurtis — Settlement: Reported $12 Million

Cynthia cited a number of reasons why she wanted out, and "extramarital affairs" was one of them. The exact amount of the divorce settlement remains undisclosed, but it is said that Cynthia was able to get around $12 million. Alex doesn't need to go to a dating app or dating sites because he is now known to have a relationship with Jennifer Lopez.
